Caravan & Motorhome Club National Rally
We attended this in 2016 when it was held at Weston Park in Staffordshire. We were very new at all this and so did not make many notes. This is how they might describe it today...
The Caravan and Motorhome Club National Rally (now often known as ClubFest) is the club's flagship annual event, bringing together thousands of members in a huge, friendly gathering of caravans, motorhomes, and campervans.
Typically held over the late May Spring Bank Holiday weekend (a four- or five-day affair), it takes place in the picturesque grounds of a stately home or large estate. In past years these have included places like Ragley Hall, Blenheim Palace, and Sledmere House, offering plenty of open space for hundreds or even up to around 10,000 outfits to pitch up.
The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, with a strong sense of community. Expect a packed programme of entertainment that includes live music and evening shows, fun games and competitions (everything from sports to novelty challenges), food stalls and catering options, trade stands displaying the latest caravanning gear, and plenty of opportunities to chat with fellow enthusiasts. Flags often fly proudly from outfits, adding to the colourful, festive feel, and there is usually a real mix of people from all over the UK enjoying the social side of caravanning.
It is much larger and more ambitious than regular Centre rallies, making it a highlight of the year for many members who enjoy the scale, the variety of activities, and the chance to meet old friends and make new ones. Non-members are sometimes welcome too, depending on the year.
Final Verdict
As we were very new to the club and caravanning, we found it hard to "break in" to the various gatherings of people who were "old hands" at this and all seemed to know each other. Overall not a great experience and one we've never repeated.
